The Autism Treatment and Resource Center provides training and education for
caregivers, teachers, social workers, therapists and other professionals who work with
children and adults with ASD, as well as parents, families and awareness for our
communities.
5 to 6-hour workshop/training includes:
- Overview of ASD
- Understanding the metabolic disorder in Autism and how it can affect functioning and
behaviors
- Insight into stimming, anxiety, stressors and meltdowns
- Pro-active steps in working with challenging ASD behaviors
- Methods of applying reward systems vs. consequences and rewards
- Understanding the dietary interventions used in ASD and why they may or may not
be effective
- Resources for ASD and therapies available in the region
- Specific questions answered
- Informational materials will be provided
- $20 per person for groups of 25 or more
- $25 per person for groups of less than 25
- Travel fee is $50-$100, depending on distance traveled
2 to 3-hour workshop/training includes an overview of ASD, the metabolic disorder in ASD,
meltdowns, intervention strategies and environmental modifications for those on the
spectrum, including a question and answer session.
- Informational materials will be provided.
- $10 per person for 30 or more people
- $12 per person for 29 people or fewer
- Travel fee is $50-$100, depending on distance traveled
Other:
Options are for the groups or agencies hiring the ATRC for trainings to provide lunches or
have a “Brown Bag Lunch” training where participants bring their own food or to merely
give participants a 1-hour lunch break to go out for a meal.
Training is provided by:
Julie Priola E.D., B.A.H
Julie is the founder, executive director and advocate of the Autism Treatment and
Resource Center; she has over 22 years experience working with ASD, mental illness and
other challenging behaviors in this region and assisting families and individuals across the
US, Canada and Europe through her membership in an international Asperger’s network.
She is a member of the Autism Society of America and writes for autism publications on the
disorder. Ms. Priola is currently writing a book on the treatments and therapies in Autism
Spectrum Disorders for the Autism Treatment and Resource Center, to benefit the
organization and its programs. She has an adult son with Asperger’s.

Sandra Nelson LPN, Certified in ASD SPED.
Sandy has over 9 years experience working with ASD, she developed the Autism Pilot
Project at NorthCountry RIDE and has extensive education and experience in dietary
interventions from a parents perspective, education and therapies in ASD, she is a DAN
trained nurse (Defeat
Autism Now) and has 2 children on the spectrum.

Client-Specific Evaluations and Training
We offer client evaluations that can facilitate more client-specific training and education for
staff on sensory issues, interventions, etc.
- Informational materials will be provided along with continued support and
development.
- Recommendations and referrals for therapies specific to client needs
- $50 per hour for client observation (usually a total of one hour).
- Travel fee is waived if observation is in conjunction with training workshop.
